Music, Movies and, And Life!
I have noticed it for a certain
period of time. Its never the same everyday. I wonder why. You do not wake up every
morning with the same feeling. I don’t. One morning I am THE most cheerful, and
it does vary from a dull morning to already the head is loaded with heavy
thoughts and a feeling that the day is going to be hectic and busy. And some
mornings which are often quite a lot are those‘Sleepy mornings’ that you curse you
should’ve been to bed early the previous night. Its ironic that this same feeling
haunts the more as the day progresses , you sit to finish up something and yawn
so wide and the level of irritation is too damn high. Nevertheless, the cycle
continues.
No matter how it is, it always
starts with music. Speak of music, which I have done here in my blog, like
countless times, yet, it does play important role in my life. I know that, the
song has been out for really long time, I have heard it too, its not that I haven’t.
But, I just dint pay attention to it closely, which one day I finally had to. Spotify
playlist which I share with my Sister, she had saved this famous track of Happy
by Pharell Williams, and its one of those mid week mornings, was so dull, I
played this song as I came across it. One doesn’t have the idea, to the extent
how this song lifted my spirits. From dull, yawning morning to a cheerful one. I’ve
had this song on loop until I reached my destination, I was singing out loud
in my head ofcourse and I said to myself damn this is a HAPPY song. Such is the
impact of music on me. Well, not that I listen to tragic songs and cry within,
but well I do listen to dark numbers, but that’s about it.
Just for the heck of it, can you
go out of your way by any chance? Can you stay away from facebook for a month?
Forget a month, for a week? Can you do the same for whatsapp? Can you not use
your phone for a day? The person who smokes, can you try not doing for a month?
We, specially me, get used so much to our habits, that a small disruption to
it, we lose our mind. Don’t we? I was in such situations many times. We cringe
with in. It is tough to be away from our old habits right? Hence, at the
beginning of this month, June, I took a bold decision. Well, it was bold for
me. I don’t know if it is a bad thing, but I drink coffee. Specially, Starbucks’ coffee at least once a day. With out my notice, my legs automatically
walk to the store and buy a dark roast or a medium roast (No, lattes is not
Coffee). My day never ends without drinking a 16 oz coffee. So, there I am. I
challenged myself to not drink coffee for a month. Do you know how big of a
deal it is for me. That’s like I’m turning my world upside down.
And, I was successful in doing
that so. But for how long. It lasted until my birthday. I was successfully away
from a single drop for the first 10 days and then, I volunteered myself to give
up. The whole point was, I wanted to see how long I could with stand. I have
the confidence that if I want I can go for a longer duration. It will be tough,
yet, its achievable, which I figured out practically doing it.
The idea of this occurred to me
as I felt that days are boring and I haven’t had challenges for a while. In order
to spice things I came up with this. So, try out few things and let me know
too, I’ll try as well. J
I cannot do it. That’s just not
me. It would burn me. May be if someone offers me a huge ransom, I’ll still
not be able to do it. How can one watch a movie at home the very next day its
out in theatres. A Cam/Pirated print. That’s like smashing the head of a person
with a glass bottle, yeah you’re literally killing the film. I mean I
understand the desperation or it may be the situations demanding you to do so,
but at least I would respect the hardwork. If I miss the movie in theatres,
I’ll literally wait until the blu ray is out, worst case DVD. Well, my rule
book of watching a movie goes something like this alright, when you go to a theatre
right, grab a cuppa coffee, before that arrive well in advance, mind you, you
can be late to work or a class or what ever it is, but never late to theatre.
So, once you’ve grabbed your coffee or drinks, not even miss the
ridiculous of the commercials and the never ending promos of upcoming releases.
So, the other day I was watching a movie at home right, it was obviously a blu
ray copy, I was saying to myself, why not I volunteer myself to watch the
commercials. I mean I say that’s heights of honesty. Isn’t it. Ofcourse, I dint
do it though, that would make me insane, no? J. The next thing that cringes
me is people skip the songs man. I mean, come on. But, my attitude towards the
songs changed over the past 2-3 years, ever since telugu movie industry has
been gifted with these new talented music directors, I’m sorry, I’m forced to
skip the songs too.
Anyways, that’s just my opinion.
I like to watch every bit of the cinema, when there’s so much effort involved
from so many people. Direction, cinematography, photography, dance numbers, the
dialogues and the story. Since, many of the recent movies doesn’t have these, I
wouldn’t blame the audience too. Isn’t it like the food in your plate. Would
you want to leave something behind? No right, well, I wouldn’t. :D :D Alright
alright, I think its time that I stop this.
Over the weekend I have seen this new movie, Ek Villain. When
the promo was out, I thought a gripping story will do. The fact that it comes
from Ekta Kapoor camp, Mohit Suri is the director and the music is from
Aashiqui composers (one of the composer), obviously had my hopes high. Did it
live up to the hype? Yes for me! Dude, the heroine of the movie is killed off
in the first 10 minutes of the movie and yet the remaining two hours is
gripping, that is some good narration. Well, my friend killed off the good
feeling at the end of the movie saying it’s a Korean rip off, yet, I haven’t
seen the Korean version and this one was
impressive for me. Agree it’s a little slow paced but as long as the narration
is good, I’d like it. The music is melodious and has the dark theme to them to
go with that of the movie.
Kisi
shaayar ki ghazal, Jo de rooh ko sukoon ke pal
Koi
mujhko yun mila hain, Jaise banjaare ko ghar
Naye
mausam ki sehar, Yaa sard mein dopahar
Koi
mujhko yun mila hain, Jaise banjare ko ghar
Lines
from the song 'Banjaara' from the same movie. How can you even come up with this
stuff man?
There’s something about holidays
isn’t it. I tend to stay upbeat for the entire week when I
know that it is going to be an extra holiday over the weekend or one less day
to work that week. Now, do not ask me if I fully utilize the long weekend,
cause that’s a whole new story. Nevertheless, the wait for the holiday keeps me
on the edge. Fourth of July, which incidentally falls on Friday bringing us a
long weekend. Shame, I haven’t planned anything yet, but Wimbledon and Fifa
world cup should pretty much keep me occupied for the rest of the week as a matter of
fact. J
And also, shame that this is
just the second post of this year, we’re through half of the year and what am I
doing??
As you
stay tuned for more posts from me, thats it from this one!
Keep
Smiling. Stay Healthy. Just Breathe.
